Affliction in Gethsemane -Suffering Unto Death.

Judas betrayal, by Giotto
Suffering Unto Death

At the end of the meal Jesus and his disciples went out, as was their daily custom, to the Mount of Olives. On the way, Jesus predicted to his disciples that they would all fall away that night. To Peter, who protested, he foretold that that very night, before the rooster crowed twice, he himself
would thrice disown Jesus.
In the courtyard of Gethsemane Jesus parted from his disciples, saying "Sit here while I pray," and took with him only Peter, John, and James.
Saying to them, "Stay here and keep watch," he went a little further away, fell to the ground, and prayed to his Father that he might take from him the cup of suffering. An angel appeared to him and strengthened him. Jesus, in anguish, continued to pray, his sweat falling like drops of blood to the ground.
